bookWhile trying to look for something to do one uneasy night when I could not sleep, I bumped into one of my old books sitting on my pile. I would have considered any thing that would make my brain cells tired for me to be able to sleep. I even thought of watching tv for late night programs but I remembered I didn’t have tv on my apartment. Haha. I better buy one when I get my bonus. I didn’t exactly know what’s keeping my mind rumbling about but I just needed to have rest for I had work the next day. I dunno, it might be the caffeine I had in the morning or I am just a worrier.

Anyway, the book I am talking about had been with me for a while but I didn’t have the time to pay attention to it. It is a small orange book that says of the “12 Little Things Every filipino can do to help our country” written by Alexander Lacson. It’s really a good read. Very practical, truthful, realistic and timely. It talks about doing little heroic things for our country, which when done by everyone will be a heroic triumph for the entire Filipino people. Although I do not agree 100% on everything the author says, his ideals will give you thoughts to ponder and reflect on as well as make awareness of those little things that we could do for the nation instead of just complaining. Every Juan dela Cruz should be committed to seing his nation succeed and not blame his fate to someone else. It’s an ice breaker to have someone like Alex still very positive about our country.

Here are some of my favorites from those little ones: Follow the law; Don’t buy smuggled goods; Speak well of our people and our nation when talking to foreigners or when abroad; Respect public servants. The list is up to 12. The author cited practical scenarios per item. He encourages everybody to think about it and act on it because like what the saying goes “If the Filipinos will not do it for the country, who else will?”
